A ball, a few markers and a little space are enough. A parent or carer should supervise, choose a clear, safe area and use a soft ball indoors. Keep activities short and adapt them to your child’s ability.
Mark out a small playing area. Call “green” for gentle dribbling, “amber” for tiny touches and “red” to stop with the ball still. Let your child call the colours too.
Practise: ball control, listening and changing speed. Start by walking with the ball and add a little pace as confidence grows.
Make a wide gate using two soft markers. Stand on opposite sides and pass the ball through it to one another. Count successful passes together, then try a slightly narrower gate.
Practise: aiming and gentle passing with the inside of the foot. Move closer if the ball is difficult to control.
Place a few coloured markers around the area and call out one to visit. Your child dribbles to that marker, stops the ball and returns to “base”. Make it a story about collecting treasure.
Practise: looking up, turning and keeping the ball close. Let your child choose the next colour or invent the adventure.
